´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Zurair Al-Ghafiqi said:` "I heard 'Ali say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] took some gold in his right hand and some silk in his left hand and said: This is forbidden for the males of my Ummah.'"

However, their use is permissible as a form of treatment, just as silk is mentioned in the above hadith, or in general circumstances, the use up to the width of four fingers is allowed, and it is also permissible to have a gold tooth implanted. Similarly, as mentioned in the narrations, a man whose nose was cut off was permitted to have a nose made of gold implanted.

Benefits and Issues:
Ordinary adornment is permissible, but wearing excessive jewelry expresses wealth, pride, and arrogance, which hurts the feelings of the poor; therefore, it is better to avoid this. Especially, wearing jewelry while traveling leads to many evils.

It is thus permissible for women, as is explicitly mentioned in the forthcoming narrations, and it is not permissible for men to imitate women. Adornment and beautification are particular to women, and this is contrary to manliness.
