Hadith 5086

´It was narrated that Abu Rimthah said:` "My father and I came to the Prophet [SAW] and he had dyed his beard with Henna."

Brief Explanation
1؎: Further ahead, in the hadith of Anas radi Allahu anhu (number: 5089), it is stated that "There were not so many white hairs in the hair of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that he would apply dye." The reconciliation between both hadiths is as follows: Indeed, there were not so many (white) hairs that there would be a need for him to change their color (i.e., by means of dye), but he changed their color so that it would serve as an example for the ummah. Anas radi Allahu anhu did not have the opportunity to witness this action. As for the next hadith of Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma (number: 5088), which states that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to dye his hair with yellow color, the use of yellow color was later abrogated, the news of which did not reach Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) generally did not dye his beard because there were only a few white hairs, which could be counted on one's fingers, so there was no need to dye them. However, on rare occasions, he may have applied henna.
