´It was narrated that Talq bin Habib said:` "Ten things are from the Sunnah: Using the Siwak, trimming the mustache, rinsing the mouth, rinsing the nose, letting the beard grow, trimming the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, circumcision, shaving the pubes and washing one's backside."
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) Washing the backside: Using stones (dry materials) is also sufficient, but complete cleanliness is not achieved thereby. Complete cleanliness is only possible with water; therefore, performing istinja (purification after relieving oneself) with at least three stones is obligatory. And it is superior to use water. In Hadith number 5043, this is also what is meant by "intiqas al-ma’" (reduction of water).
(2) Through these actions, a person attains adornment. Cleanliness is completed. He appears civilized; therefore, these have been mentioned in the Book of Adornment (Kitab al-Zinah).
