Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
In the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), if an individual committed a crime, the entire tribe would be considered guilty. Whoever from the tribe was caught would be subjected to retaliation. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) sensed a trace of this mentality in the statement of the Ansar, as they mentioned the crime of one person from a tribe upon seeing another individual from that tribe. Therefore, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) explicitly refuted this notion in clear words.
