The meaning of "mursal" is that in this narration, the original narrator, that is, the Companion (sahabi), is not mentioned by name; rather, the student himself has conveyed the statement. "Relative" does not mean that every relative can become the heir of the murdered person; rather, the primary rightful heirs are the sons and grandsons. Then come the father and grandfather, then brothers and nephews, then uncles, and so on.
