Hadith 4791

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ عَائِذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى هُوَ ابْنُ حَمْزَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قُتِلَ لَهُ قَتِيلٌ " . مُرْسَلٌ .
´Abu Salamah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:` "If a person's relative is killed." In Mursal form. (Shah)

The meaning of "mursal" is that in this narration, the original narrator, that is, the Companion (sahabi), is not mentioned by name; rather, the student himself has conveyed the statement. "Relative" does not mean that every relative can become the heir of the murdered person; rather, the primary rightful heirs are the sons and grandsons. Then come the father and grandfather, then brothers and nephews, then uncles, and so on.
