´It was narrated that Muhammad bin Jahsh said:` "We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah when he raised his head toward the sky, and put his palm on his forehead, then he said: 'Subhan Allah, what a stern warning has been revealed! We fell silent and were scared. The following day I asked him: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is this stern warning that has been revealed? He said: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if a man were to be killed in the cause of Allah then brought back to life, then killed, but he owed a debt, he would not enter paradise until his debt was paid off,"
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) The purpose of Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah is to present the most severe warning in the Shari’ah regarding debt, that is, if a person takes a loan and then dies without repaying it, the stages of the Hereafter will be extremely difficult for him, and even entry into Paradise will be barred for him. Therefore, one should try to avoid taking loans as much as possible, and if taking a loan becomes unavoidable, then its prompt repayment and fulfillment must be ensured.
(2) A martyr (shahid) reaches Paradise immediately upon death and roams freely therein; however, debt becomes an obstacle until the debt is repaid, or the creditor becomes pleased—whether he becomes pleased on his own or Allah ta’ala causes him to become pleased.
