´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "Tell your husbands to clean themselves with water, for I am too shy to tell them myself. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do that."
46. Commentary: From this hadith as well, the same ruling is derived that using water for istinja (cleaning oneself after relieving oneself) is superior, because this was also the noble habit of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Furthermore, it is also understood that performing istinja with only water is not disliked (makruh). For further details, see: (Fath al-Bari: 1/329, under Hadith: 150)

Urdu Footnote: 1: Here, you are repeatedly reading this phrase in the hadiths: "This is the practice of the people of knowledge." By "people of knowledge" (ahl al-'ilm) is meant the hadith scholars (muhaddithin), jurists (fuqaha), and those who possess a correct understanding of the Qur'an and Sunnah.
