´It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said:` "I used to sell camels at Al-Baqi and I would sell Dinars in exchange for Dirhams. I came to the Prophet in the house of Hafsah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask you: I sell camels in Al-Baqi and I sell Dinars in exchange for Dirhams. He said: 'There is nothing wrong with it if you take the price on that day, unless you depart when there is still unfinished business between you both (buyer and seller)."'
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
Dinar was made of gold and dirham was made of silver. When the sale of gold and silver is permissible, then in place of dinar, dirhams can be received according to its value, and in place of dirhams, dinars can be received. In the present day, the currencies of various countries have the same status. If a transaction is made in rupees, then in place of rupees, dollars or riyals or pounds can be received according to the value of the rupees, but only at that time, not later, because the value of currency fluctuates. The currency in which the transaction was agreed upon will be considered the original, and the remaining currencies will be received according to the value at the time of payment.
