Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) The purpose of the chapter established by the author rahimahullah is the condemnation of slaughtering for other than Allah. Therefore, whoever slaughters an animal for any being other than Allah Ta’ala (such as a pir, prophet, nabi, qutb, abdal, righteous or pious elders, etc.), in order to seek their pleasure and approval, is accursed, and it is certain that an accursed person becomes distant and deprived of the mercy of Allah ‘azza wa jall.
(2) From this blessed hadith, it is also understood that the aforementioned acts are major sins (kabirah), because the curse (la’nah) is invoked only upon the perpetrator of a major sin, not upon the perpetrator of a minor sin (saghirah), and furthermore, the perpetrator of a minor sin is not declared accursed.
(3) This blessed hadith is an open refutation of the beliefs of the Shia, Rawafid, and Imamiyyah, etc., that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave any special bequest (wasiyyah) to Ali radi Allahu anhu. Along with this, the edifice of other fabricated matters and superstitions upon which these innovators base their beliefs and thoughts also collapses due to the aforementioned statement of Ali radi Allahu anhu. As the saying goes: “The house was set on fire by its own lamp.” So all praise is due to Allah for this. Some irreligious people had spread strange things, among which was the claim that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam imparted the real teachings of revelation only to Ali radi Allahu anhu, which are much more than this Qur’an. This is pure foolishness, and for this reason Ali radi Allahu anhu became angry—radi Allahu anhu wa ardah. Then he explained that there was no special teaching given, except that it may have happened that on some occasion of a command, I happened to be alone with him. But that command is also for the entire ummah, not just for me.
(4) One meaning of slaughtering for other than Allah is to mention the name of other than Allah at the time of slaughter. Similarly, whoever slaughters an animal for the pleasure of other than Allah, even if he mentions the name of Allah at the time of slaughter, this too is considered slaughtering for other than Allah, and such a person is accursed.
(5) “Landmarks of the earth”—by these signs is meant either the markers of desert routes, by which travelers are protected from getting lost. Erasing these signs poses a danger to their lives, therefore it is a grave sin. Or, it refers to those markers by which the boundaries of people’s ownership are defined. And Allah knows best.
