´It was narrated from al-Hasan:` "One of the prophets stopped beneath a tree and an ant bit him, so he gave instructions that their nest be burned with all the ants inside it. Then Allah revealed to him" 'Why did you not punish just one ant?" Al-Ash' ath said: "A similar report was narrated from Ibn Sirin, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet, in which were added the words: 'for they glorify Allah."
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
Its meaning is that Ash'ath narrated this report from two shuyukh: one from Hasan al-Basri and the other from Muhammad ibn Sirin. The narration from Hasan al-Basri is mawquf, while the other, that is, the narration reported from Muhammad ibn Sirin rahimahullah, is marfu'. Both narrations, that is, the mawquf and the marfu', are authentic; however, in the second marfu' narration, the wording of [فإنهنَّ يسبِّحْنَ ] is additional. In the mawquf narration, that is, the one from Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah, these words are not present.
