Hadith 4338

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَأْكُلُ لُحُومَ الْخَيْلِ ، قُلْتُ : الْبِغَالَ ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا " .
´It was narrated from 'Ata, that Jabir said:` "we used to eat horseflesh. ": I said: "And mules?" He said: "No

Brief Explanation
1؎: Imam al-Nasa'i first cited authentic (sahih) hadiths in the chapter regarding the permissibility of horse meat, then in the chapter concerning its prohibition, he mentioned two hadiths, in the chain of which there are two weak (da'if) narrators. Finally, by mentioning this narration from Jabir radi Allahu anhu, he gave preference to the view that horse meat is lawful (halal).
