Hadith 4226

´It was narrated from Habib bin Ash-Shahid:` "Muhammad bin Sirin said to me: 'Ask Al-Hasan (Al-Basri) from whom he heard this Hadith about the 'Aqiqah.' I asked him about that and he said: 'I heard it from Samurh."'

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
Imam Nasa'i rahimahullah has made this clarification because there is a difference of opinion regarding Hasan al-Basri's hearing (sama‘) from Samurah ibn Jundub radi Allahu anhu—whether he actually heard from Samurah or not. Some scholars consider it correct, and this is the view of Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmidhi. Some hadith scholars consider his hearing from Samurah to be correct only in this narration, but not in others.
