Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
To worship Allah with sincerity and to have correct faith in His essence—this is goodwill (khayrkhwahi) towards Allah, the benefit of which returns to the person himself. Otherwise, who can show goodwill to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic? Another meaning is that the right of counsel and goodwill belongs to Allah, which He extends to His creation. Goodwill towards His Book (the Qur’an) is to act upon its commands, to reflect and ponder over it, to spread its teachings, to safeguard it from distortion, to affirm its truth, and to be consistent in its recitation. To adhere to the Sunnahs of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), to affirm his prophethood, and to obey him—this is goodwill towards the Messenger. Goodwill towards Muslim rulers and leaders is to assist and obey them in truth and in matters not involving disobedience (to Allah), and if they deviate from the straight path, to enjoin what is right while refraining from rebellion and insurrection against them, except in the case where they openly display clear disbelief (kufr); in such a situation, refraining from assisting them becomes necessary. Goodwill towards the general Muslims is to inform them of all good and beneficial deeds related to this world and the Hereafter, to guide them correctly in matters of evil and corruption, and to prevent them from wrongdoing.
