´It was narrated that Al-Hasan said:` "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Whoever changes his religion, kill him.'"
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
Imam Nasa’i rahimahullah’s intent is that the narration of Sa’id from Qatadah from ‘Ikrimah from Ibn ‘Abbas, as reported by Muhammad ibn Bishr, although it is mursal, is more authentic and correct compared to the musnad narration of Sa’id from Qatadah from ‘Ikrimah from Ibn ‘Abbas as reported by ‘Abbad ibn ‘Awwam. This is because Muhammad ibn Bishr himself is more hafiz (possesses greater memorization) than ‘Abbad ibn ‘Awwam. Although ‘Abbad ibn ‘Awwam is also a trustworthy (thiqah) narrator, there is confusion (idtirab) in his narration from Sa’id ibn Abi ‘Arubah. Although ‘Abbad ibn ‘Awwam is also a trustworthy narrator, there is confusion in his narration from Sa’id ibn Abi ‘Arubah. The aforementioned narration of ‘Abbad is also authentic in its connected (mawsul) form, as this narration is reported in a connected form through other authentic chains as well. However, the statement of Imam Ahmad rahimahullah is that ‘Abbad is considered to have confusion (mudtarib al-hadith) in his narrations from Sa’id ibn Abi ‘Arubah. And Allah knows best.
