This narration is merely an abridgment of the aforementioned incident; otherwise, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not prescribe this punishment solely for the looting of camels. In general, for those who commit armed robbery by force, more than one hand and foot may be cut off, as is mentioned in the verse regarding hirabah (armed robbery).

´It was narrated from 'Aishah:` "Some people raided the milk camels of the Messenger of Allah [SAW]. They were brought to the Prophet [SAW], and the Prophet [SAW] had their hands and feet cut off and their eyes gouged out." This is the wording of Ibn Al-Muthanna.

Imam al-Nasa'i rahimahullah heard this narration from two teachers: Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna and Muhammad ibn Bashar (Bunda). There is some difference in the wording, but the meaning in both is the same. These are the words of the teacher Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna.
