Hadith 4002

´It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud that:` The Prophet [SAW] said: "A man will come, holding another man's hand, and will say: 'O Lord, this man killed me.' Allah will say to him: 'Why did you kill him?' He will say: 'I killed him so that the glory would be to you.' He will say: 'It is to Me.' Then (another) man will come holding another man's hand, and will say: 'This man killed me.' Allah will say to him: 'Why did you kill him?' He will say: 'So that the glory would be to so and so.' He will say: 'It is not to so and so,' and the burden of sin will be upon him."

Hadith Takhrij «
Brief Explanation
1؎: This hadith is neither contrary nor opposed to the noble verse «ولا تزر وازرة وزر أخرء», because the meaning of the verse is that the sin of another cannot be placed upon a person who has neither any personal connection to that sin nor any effect of his own personal action. However, in the case of the wrongful killing mentioned here, the person for whose honor, respect, or authority the murderer committed the act does indeed have a connection and effect in the matter.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) "He will return with his sin," meaning the killer will receive the punishment for what he has done. Another possible meaning is that the sins of the murdered person will be placed upon the killer, which will be in exchange for the act of murder. In terms of the outcome, there is no difference between the two meanings. And Allah knows best.

(2) In this hadith, two types of killers are mentioned: one is the person who kills a disbeliever for the sake of Allah and His religion. When necessary, this killing is permissible, and in fact, it will bring reward, for example: during jihad or for the enforcement of legal punishments (hudud). The second type of killing is that which is committed for the sake of government, leadership, pride, or honor (whether one's own or someone else's). This type of killing is a crime. Such a killer will have to bear the punishment for what he has done.
