Hadith 3642

´It was narrated that 'Abdullah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'For whom among you is the wealth of his heirs dearer to him than his own wealth?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, there is no one among us for whom his own wealth is not dearer to him than the wealth of his heirs.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Know that there is no one among you for whom the wealth of his heirs is not dearer than his own wealth. Your wealth is that which you have sent on ahead, and the wealth of your heirs is that which you have kept.'"

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) May sacrifice be offered for that Most Sacred Being. How excellently He clarified this reality, from which all are heedless, except whom Allah wills.

(2) In the hadith, encouragement has been given for the advancement of good deeds, and it has been explained that whatever a person spends in acts of goodness and virtue during his lifetime, only that will prove beneficial for him in the Hereafter. If, after the arrival of the Angel of Death, anything is spent from the inheritance, then he will not receive the reward for that expenditure, because now the wealth belongs to the heirs, not to the deceased.

Hadith Commentary:
The correspondence between the hadith and the chapter is evident.
Blessed are those who are able to accumulate as many assets as possible for the Hereafter during their lifetime, and by "the path of Allah" is meant Islam, in the propagation and service of which a Muslim's sole objective in life should be to participate sincerely with both wealth and life.
May Allah grant us success in that which He loves and is pleased with.

Hadith Commentary:
In reality, a person's true wealth is only that which he gives in the way of Allah and deposits in the treasury of the Hereafter. Other than this, whatever he possesses is not truly his, but rather belongs to his heirs, for whom he will leave it behind.

In another hadith, this is further clarified. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“A servant keeps repeating, ‘My wealth, my property,’ whereas his wealth is only three things:
First, that which he consumed and finished; second, that which he wore and wore out; and third, that which he gave in the way of Allah and deposited in the treasury of the Hereafter. Other than this, whatever remains is for others, while he himself is about to depart from here.”
(Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Zuhd, Hadith: 7422 (2959))

When this is the reality, a person should make the Hereafter his true objective and be concerned with preparing for it.
