Hadith 3592

´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said: 'There is goodness tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection. And horses are of three types: Those that bring reward to man, those that are a means of protection for a man, and those that are a burden (of sin) for a man. As for those that bring reward, they are kept for the cause of Allah and for Jihad. No fodder enters their stomach but for everything that enters their stomachs, reward is written for him, even if he puts them out to pasture.'" And he quoted the Hadith.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Taking care of anything prepared for the purpose of jihad is a cause of reward.

➋ The petrol used in vehicles employed for jihad and the expenses incurred on their repair are all recorded among good deeds.

➌ By analogy with the dung and urine of horses, it can be said that the smoke emitted from vehicles used for jihad will also be placed in the scale of good deeds.

➍ It is permissible to keep a personal vehicle for one's legitimate needs, but its right also includes that a poor and needy person should be transported to his destination free of charge, and the small needs of neighbors and relatives should be fulfilled.

➎ Any item of necessity which is considered a symbol of wealth in society—if it is acquired merely for the sake of showing off and its display is done unnecessarily—this is a major sin.
