´Salamah bin Kuhail said:` "I heard Ash-Sha'bi narrating from Abu Al-Khalil or Ibn Abi Al-Khalil that three men had intercourse (with the same woman) during a single menstrual cycle;" and he mentioned something similar, but he did not mention Zaid bin Arqam or attribute anything to the Prophet.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
In this narration, there is no mention of Hazrat Zayd bin Arqam radi Allahu anhu, nor is there any mention of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. According to the statement of Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah, this is correct because Salamah ibn Kuhayl is more reliable than the other three, therefore, the narration of those three is not correct. However, the preferred opinion is that this narration is marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet) and connected (muttasil). The opposition of a more reliable narrator is only considered when there is some reason for disagreement, but here no reason for disagreement is apparent; therefore, the narration of Salih al-Hamdani is also authentic. And Allah knows best.
