Hadith 3515

´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair said:` "Zam'ah had a slave woman with whom he used to have intercourse, but he suspected that someone else was also having intercourse with her. She gave birth to a child who resembled the one whom he suspected. Zam'ah died when she was pregnant, and Sawdah mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah said: 'The child is the bed's, but veil yourself from him, O Sawdah, for he is not a brother of yours.'"

Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, the child will be attributed to the wife or slave woman who belongs to him, as long as he himself does not deny it and does not say that this child is not from his seed, even if external circumstances indicate that it is not from his seed.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
“It will be ascribed,” because the master of the house has passed away. There is no longer any possibility of denial. If he were alive and had denied (the child), then the child would not have been ascribed to him, but rather would have been ascribed to the slave woman herself.
