Hadith 3490

´It was narrated from 'Aishah that she said:` "Praise be to Allah Whose hearing encompasses all voices. Khawlah came to the Messenger of Allah complaining about her husband, but I could not hear what she said. Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, revealed: 'Indeed Allah has heard the statement of her that disputes with you concerning her husband, and complains to Allah. And Allah hears the argument between you both.'"

Commentary:
The husband of Khawlah (radi Allahu anha) also made her unlawful for himself by likening her to his mother. She thought that perhaps she had become forbidden for her husband. Apparently, in such a situation, marital life comes to an end. The children are also disgraced separately. Allah, the Exalted, in His perfect mercy, only imposed expiation (kaffarah). He did not make the wife unlawful. And all praise is due to Allah for that.
