Hadith 3422

´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas, concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime:` "O Prophet! When you divorce women, divorce them at their 'Iddah (prescribed periods)." Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Before their 'Iddah elapses."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
The meaning of Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu is that divorce should take place before the waiting period (‘iddah), that is, in a state of purity (tuhr), because the beginning of the waiting period (‘iddah) is from menstruation (hayd). If divorce is given during menstruation, then it will occur during the waiting period (‘iddah), which is not correct.
