عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ
عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : اجْتَمَعْنَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَرْسَلْنَ فَاطِمَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْنَ لَهَا : إِنَّ نِسَاءَكَ وَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَدَخَلَتْ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَهُوَ مَعَ عَائِشَةَ فِي مِرْطِهَا ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ : إِنَّ نِسَاءَكَ أَرْسَلْنَنِي , وَهُنَّ يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَتُحِبِّينِي ؟ " قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَأَحِبِّيهَا " . قَالَتْ : فَرَجَعَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ , فَأَخْبَرَتْهُنَّ مَا قَالَ : فَقُلْنَ لَهَا : إِنَّكِ لَمْ تَصْنَعِي شَيْئًا فَارْجِعِي إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَتْ : وَاللَّهِ , لَا أَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا أَبَدًا . وَكَانَتِ ابْنَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقًّا , فَأَرْسَلْنَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَهِيَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تُسَامِينِي مِنْ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : أَزْوَاجُكَ أَرْسَلْنَنِي , وَهُنَّ يَنْشُدْنَكَ الْعَدْلَ فِي ابْنَةِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَتْ عَلَيَّ تَشْتِمُنِي , فَجَعَلْتُ أُرَاقِبُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْظُرُ طَرْفَهُ , هَلْ يَأْذَنُ لِي مِنْ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ مِنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : فَشَتَمَتْنِي حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ مِنْهَا ، فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُهَا , فَلَمْ أَلْبَثْ أَنْ أَفْحَمْتُهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ " ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَلَمْ أَرَ امْرَأَةً خَيْرًا , وَلَا أَكْثَرَ صَدَقَةً , وَلَا أَوْصَلَ لِلرَّحِمِ , وَأَبْذَلَ لِنَفْسِهَا فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ يُتَقَرَّبُ بِهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ زَيْنَبَ , مَا عَدَا سَوْرَةً مِنْ حِدَّةٍ كَانَتْ فِيهَا تُوشِكُ مِنْهَا الْفَيْئَةَ . قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : هَذَا خَطَأٌ وَالصَّوَابُ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ .
‘Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gathered together and sent Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said to her: “Your wives”—and she said a word to this effect—“are demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah.” So she went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he was with Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) under her sheet. She said to him: “(O Messenger of Allah!) Your wives have sent me to you; they are demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah (Aisha).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to her: “Do you love me?” She replied: “Yes!” He said: “Then love her (Aisha) as well.” Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) returned to the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and told them everything he had said (to her). They all said: “You have done nothing for us; go again to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” Fatimah said: “No, by Allah! I will never go to him regarding this matter again, and indeed she was the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” Then the noble wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) to him. And Zaynab was the one among the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who had a status equal to mine (Aisha’s) in his eyes. She said: “(O Messenger of Allah!) Your wives have sent me to you because they are all demanding justice from you regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah,” and she began to speak harshly to me. I was watching the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his gaze was upon me, as if to see whether he would permit me to respond to her. Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) was still there when I realized that if I replied to her, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would not mind. So (when) I spoke harshly to her (I did not let her stay for long) until I prevailed over her. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her): “She is the daughter of Abu Bakr.” Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I have never seen a woman better in religious matters, more God-fearing, more truthful in speech, more upholding of family ties, more generous in giving charity, more self-effacing in acts of charity and seeking nearness to Allah than Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), except that she had a quick temper, but her anger would quickly subside. Abu Abdur Rahman Nasa’i says: There is a mistake in this (narration); the correct version is the one that has preceded.

Explanation: The meaning is that narrating from the chain of Ma'mar from al-Zuhri from 'Urwah is not correct; rather, the narration of Salih and Shu'ayb is authentic, that this narration is from the chain: al-Zuhri from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman from 'Aishah.
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The fact that Fatimah radi Allahu anha addressed 'Aishah radi Allahu anha as "daughter of Abu Quhafah" was actually a direct conveyance of a message from the side of the Mothers of the Believers (azwaj mutahharat) radi Allahu anhunna; otherwise, she could not have been disrespectful towards 'Aishah radi Allahu anha, because 'Aishah radi Allahu anha was in the position of a mother to her. The rest of the Mothers of the Believers radi Allahu anhunna were her equals; she could have addressed them in such a manner.
➋ "Towards your eye"—in anticipation that you would signal with your eye, but the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not make secret gestures with his eyes, as this would fall under deception towards the other party. And he was pure and free from this... sallallahu alayhi wa sallam...
➌ "You were a true daughter"—this is an idiom, meaning: one who loves you, who shows you utmost respect and reverence, and who possesses morals and habits like yours. Radi Allahu anha wa ardaha. (Further details have already passed under hadith: 3396.)
