Hadith 3397

أَخْبَرَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَذَكَرَتْ نَحْوَهُ ، وَقَالَتْ : " أَرْسَلَ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَيْنَبَ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَتْ ، فَأَذِنَ لَهَا فَدَخَلَتْ ، فَقَالَتْ : نَحْوَهُ " . خَالَفَهُمَا مَعْمَرٌ رَوَاهُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ .
With this chain also: Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that then she narrated in the same way, and in it she (only) says: The wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Zainab, so she sought permission, and you granted her permission. Then she continues in the same way. Muammar, on the contrary, narrated it as: from Az-Zuhri, from Urwah, from Aisha.

Mu'ammar, Salih, and Shu'ayb are all students of al-Zuhri, but Salih and Shu'ayb have narrated this report with the chain: from al-Zuhri, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from 'A'ishah; whereas Mu'ammar has mentioned the name of 'Urwah instead of Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman. The correct narration is that of Salih and Shu'ayb. And Allah knows best.
