Hadith 3311

أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الْمَصَّةُ وَالْمَصَّتَانِ " .
´It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair that the Prophet said:` "Suckling once or twice does not make (marriage) prohibited."

Benefits and Issues:

The meaning of "tearing the intestines" is that the child becomes satiated from the milk.
The meaning of the hadith is that only that suckling (radā‘ah) is considered valid which occurs at an age when the child’s nourishment is the mother’s milk.
In normal circumstances, suckling an older child does not establish the relationship of suckling (radā‘ah).
