Hadith 2918

´It was narrated the Usmah bin Zaid said:` "I entered the House with the Messenger of Allah. He sat and praised Allah, and recited the Takbir, and the Tahlil. Then he went to the wall of the House that was in front of him, and placed his chest, cheek and hands on it, then he recited the Takbir, and the Tahlil, and supplicated. And he did that in all the corners, then he came out, and turned to face the Qiblah while he was in front of the door, and he said: 'This is the Qiblah, this is the Qiblah.'"

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) “Takbir” means saying Allahu Akbar, “Tahlil” means saying La ilaha illallah, and “Tasbih” means saying Subhanallah.

(2) “Did so in all the corners” — It is understood from this that it is permissible to touch one’s face, chest, hands, etc., to any corner or wall of the Ka‘bah (Baytullah). As for the fact that in the hadiths, only the touching of the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) and the Yemeni Corner (Rukn Yamani) is mentioned, this does not prove that touching any other corner or wall besides these two is prohibited. Especially since it is established from the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) that he touched and even clung to the Multazam and the walls and corners inside the Ka‘bah. At most, it can be said that touching any corner or wall other than these two corners (and besides the Multazam) is not Sunnah, but this does not negate its permissibility—just as eleven rak‘ahs at night are Sunnah, but performing less or more is permissible, not prohibited, as long as one does not consider it Sunnah. Many people fall into misunderstanding at such points, thinking that if something is not Sunnah, then it is also not permissible, but this notion is incorrect.
