Hadith 2908

´It was narrated from Abdullah bin Umar that:` he came to the Kabah when the Prophet, Bilal and Usamah bin Zaid had enter it, and Uthman bin Talhah had shut the door. They stayed there for a while, then he opened the door and the Prophet came out. I (Ibn Umar) Climed the steps and entered the House and said: "Where did the Prophet pray?" They said: "Here." And I forgot to ask them how many (Rakahs) the Prophet had prayed inside the House.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) This pertains to the event of the Conquest of Makkah. ‘Uthman bin Talhah radi Allahu anhu was the key-bearer of the House of Allah (Baytullah), which is why the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam took him along, so that people would know that he had not been removed from his position. Usamah bin Zayd and Bilal radi Allahu anhu were the Prophet’s attendants.

(2) “Here”—In the following hadith, it is clarified that he prayed between the pillars of the front row. There were two pillars on the right, one on the left, and three pillars behind. At that time, the roof of the Ka‘bah was supported by six pillars. Nowadays, there are no pillars, but the place where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam prayed is marked, which is directly in front of the door.

(3) “Forgot”—Even though in the following narration, the number is also mentioned. Perhaps Ibn ‘Umar radi Allahu anhu forgot later, or he had forgotten earlier and remembered afterwards. And Allah knows best.
