´Abdullah bin Umar said:` "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "One prayer in my Masjid is better than a thousand prayers anywhere else, except Al-Masjid Al-Haram.'" Abu Abdur-Rahman said: "I do not know of any one who reported this Hadith from Nafi, from Abdullah bin Umar, other than Musa Al-Juhani; he was contradicted by Ibn Juraij and others.
Brief Explanation
1؎: The reward for prayer in Masjid al-Haram is one hundred times greater than the reward for prayer in Masjid al-Nabawi.
2؎: Ibn Jurayj narrated this from Nafi‘, from Ibrahim, from Maymunah radi Allahu anha, in contrast to Musa al-Juhani, who narrated it from Nafi‘, from Ibn ‘Umar radi Allahu anhuma. According to the narration of Musa, this hadith would be counted among the musnad narrations of Ibn ‘Umar radi Allahu anhuma, and according to the narration of Ibn Jurayj and others, it would be among the musnad narrations of Umm al-Mu’minin Maymunah radi Allahu anha. However, this discrepancy does not harm the authenticity of the hadith, because it is possible that Nafi‘ heard it from both of them.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) The opposition of Ibn Jurayj is that he has made this narration the musnad of Umm al-Mu’minin, Lady Maymunah radi Allahu anha, instead of Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu, as will be seen in the following narration.
(2) The statement of Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah that “I do not know…” is questionable. ‘Ubaydullah and Ayyub have followed Musa in this; they too have made this narration the musnad of Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu. Therefore, the correct view is that this narration is reported both from Ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu and from Maymunah radi Allahu anha. For this reason, Imam Muslim rahimahullah has transmitted this narration in his Sahih through both routes. See: (Sahih Muslim, al-Hajj, Hadith: 1395)
(3) In other narrations, it is clarified that one prayer in al-Masjid al-Haram is equal to one hundred thousand prayers in ordinary mosques.

Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
Fayh Jahannam:
The spreading and diffusion of Hellfire’s heat and its boiling over.
Benefits and Issues:
Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Nomani rahimahullah has written: In this world, what we see and feel has some apparent causes, which we ourselves also understand and know, and there are some hidden causes which are beyond the reach of our perception and understanding. The Prophets alayhimussalam sometimes indicate towards these. In this hadith, where it is stated that the intensity of heat is due to the boiling over of the fire of Hell, this is of the same category. The apparent cause of the intensity of heat is the sun, and every person understands this and no one can deny it. But in the unseen realm and the world of the hidden, it is also connected to the fire of Hell, and this is among those realities which can only be known through the Prophets alayhimussalam.

Benefit:
By "my mosque" is not meant only that part of the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Nabawi) which was included in the mosque during the lifetime of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Rather, all subsequent extensions made to it are also included. This is because these extensions do not have the status of a separate mosque. Therefore, whether the prayer is performed in the old or new part of Masjid Nabawi, this reward will be attained. However, just as the virtue of the front rows exists in other mosques, it also applies there.
