Hadith 2866

´It was narrated from Muhaarish Al-Kabi, that:` the Prophet went out a night from Al-Jirranah when he set out for Umrah, and came back to Al-Jirranah when he set out for Umrah, and came back to Al-Jirranah in the morning, as if he had stayed there. Then, when the sun had passed its zenith he went out from Al-Jirranah in the valley of Sarif until the road joined the road to Al-Madinah from Sarif.

Urdu Footnote:
➊ This incident took place in Dhu al-Qa'dah, 8 AH, after the conquest of Makkah, during the return from Ta’if, Hunayn, and Autas.
➋ Ji’irrana is a location between Ta’if and Makkah al-Mukarramah. It is outside the Haram. Nowadays, putting on the ihram for ‘umrah at this place is called the “major ‘umrah,” and putting on the ihram for ‘umrah from Tan’eem is called the “minor ‘umrah,” because Tan’eem is close to Makkah al-Mukarramah and Ji’irrana is farther. From Tan’eem, A’ishah (radi Allahu anha) performed ‘umrah during the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat al-Wada’) by the order of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
➌ It is understood from this that spending the night at Dhu Tuwa is not necessary; rather, one may perform ‘umrah at night and return, just as the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did.
➍ “As if he had spent the night there.” That is, after the ‘Isha prayer, he departed from Ji’irrana and then performed the Fajr prayer again at Ji’irrana. According to the general people, it would appear that he spent the night there at Ji’irrana itself; thus, some people were not aware of this ‘umrah.

“Melted silver-like”—as if it were the night of the full moon, which is very luminous. These words may also describe the blessed face of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), meaning his face was radiant and pure like melted silver. And Allah knows best. The remaining discussions have already been mentioned above.
