´Maimunah said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to lay his head in the lap of one of us while she was menstruating and recite Qur'an, and one of us would take the mat to the Masjid and spread it out while she was menstruating."
Explanation & Benefits

274. Commentary:
➊ There is no objection to reciting the Qur’an while sitting in the lap of a menstruating (ha’idah) woman; however, this indicates that there was a sense of dislike regarding the recitation of the Qur’an by a menstruating woman.
➋ It is permissible to recite the Noble Qur’an while lying down.
➌ Although this narration is weak in its chain (isnad), it is authentic due to other supporting evidences. Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has graded it as hasan, while according to the research of other scholars, this narration is sahih li ghayrihi, and this is the correct view.
Therefore, it is understood from this hadith that a menstruating woman may enter the mosque as needed, but it is not permissible for her to stay therein. This also appears to be the inclination of Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah. And Allah knows best.
