Hadith 2665

´It was narrated from Abu Bakr:` That he went out for Hajj with the Messenger of Allah on the Farewell Pilgrimage, and his wife Asma' bint 'Umais Al-Khath'amiyyah was with him. When they were at Dhul-Hulaifah, Asma gave birth to Muhammad bin abi Bakr. Abu Bakr. Came to the Prophet and told him, and the Messenger of Allah told him to tell her to perform Ghusl, then begin the Talbniyah for Hajj, and to do everything that the people do, except that she should not circumambulate the House.(sahih)

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) Dhu’l-Hulayfah and Bayda’ are almost the same location; therefore, in this narration, the place of birth is mentioned as Dhu’l-Hulayfah instead of Bayda’. When the gathering is large, it cannot fit entirely in one place. Camps are also set up in nearby areas. The main encampment was indeed at Dhu’l-Hulayfah.

(2) A woman experiencing menstruation (hayd) or postnatal bleeding (nifas) can perform all the rites of Hajj except for circumambulation (tawaf). However, there is a difference of opinion regarding the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. Some scholars issue a fatwa permitting the Sa’i, but the more cautious and superior opinion is that a menstruating or postnatal woman should not perform the Sa’i between Safa and Marwah. And Allah knows best.

Benefits and Issues:
(1) Menstruation (hayd) and postnatal bleeding (nifas) are not obstacles to the performance of Hajj.

(2) In the state of menstruation or postnatal bleeding, one should not perform the circumambulation (tawaf) of the House of Allah (Baytullah), because the noble Ka'bah is located inside the mosque, and it is prohibited to enter the mosque during menstruation or postnatal bleeding.
