Hadith 2567

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ بَهْزَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا يَأْتِي رَجُلٌ مَوْلَاهُ يَسْأَلُهُ مِنْ فَضْلٍ عِنْدَهُ ، فَيَمْنَعُهُ إِيَّاهُ إِلَّا دُعِيَ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شُجَاعٌ أَقْرَعُ يَتَلَمَّظُ فَضْلَهُ الَّذِي مَنَعَ " .
´Bahz bin Hakim narrated from his father that his grandfather said:` "No man comes to his Mawla and asks him for something from the surplus of what he has, and he withholds it from him, but on the Day of Resurrection a bald-headed Shuja'a [1] will be called to him and will be licking the surplus that he withheld."

Urdu marginal note:
"He will chew." This can also mean: "On the Day of Resurrection, a bald snake will be summoned which will chew its owner, and this snake will be that surplus wealth of his which he did not give when asked." Apparently, this meaning seems more appropriate, but the words do not support it; therefore, the apparent meaning has been written in the text.

Benefits and Issues:

The Shari‘ah has declared the rights of the mother to be threefold,
and the rights of the father to be one-fourth, yet has described him as the best gate to Paradise (for entry).

The relationship between a slave and his master remains even after emancipation;
this is called the relationship of wala.
And upon being freed, it becomes obligatory for the freed person to continue to show kindness to the one who freed him as much as possible.


From this, it is also clear that a believer should never forget anyone’s favor.

«أخرجه أبوداود، الأدب، باب في بر الوالدين، حديث:5139، والترمذي، البر والصلة، حديث:1897.»©Explanation:
➊ This hadith shows that the status of the mother is greater than that of the father.
➋ Due to the hardships and pains that the mother endures because of the child, there is a greater emphasis on showing good conduct towards the mother.
A woman is weak and of delicate nature.
When children grow up, they are very rarely under the control and authority of the mother.
The mother is often undervalued.
The Shari‘ah has emphasized good conduct towards the mother with such intensity and has made the children realize that they should provide the mother with as much comfort and ease as possible in every possible way.
Her command should be obeyed and accepted without objection, provided that she does not command anything contrary to the Shari‘ah.
