(1) It is not necessary that the answer to a question be the same for every person. The answer may differ according to the condition of the one being addressed and the context of the situation. Also, it is possible that one deed is the best among the rights of Allah (huquq Allah), while another is the best among the rights of the servants (huquq al-‘ibad). Some deeds may be superior in acts of worship (‘ibadat), while others in dealings (mu‘amalat). This is why, in other narrations, the answer to the question of the best deed differs from this one. There is no contradiction in this.
(2) “Iman” (faith) in which there is no hesitation or wavering; otherwise, it is not valid, like the faith of the hypocrites (munafiqun).
(3) Betrayal, meaning in the spoils of war (mal al-ghanimah).
(4) “A righteous Hajj (hajj mabrur),” in which no lewd talk is uttered, no major sin is committed, and no quarrel or dispute takes place.
(5) “With long standing,” meaning the voluntary night prayer (nafl salah) at night; otherwise, the obligatory prayer (fard salah) should have brief standing.
(6) “Leave it,” because the purpose of migration (hijrah) is to act upon the religion of Allah, otherwise, what need would there be to leave one’s home and city?
