´It was narrated that Abu Raja' said:` I heard Ibn 'Abbas deliver a Khutbah from your Minbar - meaning the Minbar in Al-Basrah - saying: 'Sadaqatul Fitr is a Sa' of food." (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa'i) said: This is the most reliable of the three.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
This narration has been reported by three individuals: Humayd, Hisham, and Ayyub. Humayd has mentioned Hasan as the student of Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu, Hisham has mentioned Ibn Sirin, and Ayyub has mentioned Abu Raja’. Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah gives preference to the narration of Ayyub because he is more reliable (thiqah). This does not mean that the narrations of the other two individuals are incorrect; it is quite possible that all three (Hasan, Ibn Sirin, Abu Raja’) heard and narrated this statement from Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu.
