´Suhaib narrated that he heard Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'eed say:` "The Messenger of Allah addressed us one day and said: 'By the One in Whose hand is my sould' three times then he lowered his head, and each of us lowered his head, weeping, and we did not know what he had sworn that oath about. Then he raised his head with joy on his face, and that was dearer to us than red camels. Then he said: 'There is no one who offers the five (daily) prayers, fasts Ramadan, pays Zakah and avoid the seven major sins, but the gates of Paradise will be opened to him, and it will be said to him: Enter in peace."'
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) "He began to weep." Because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam swearing three times indicated the importance of the occasion. And for a pious person, this alone was sufficient to affect his spirituality.
(2) "More precious than red camels." In that environment, among the Arabs, red camels were considered the most important and valuable; thus, what is meant is something more valuable than anything in the world, i.e., the happiness of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was more important to us than everything in the world.
(3) "The seven major sins." These are: shirk (associating partners with Allah), sorcery, unjust killing, consuming usury, consuming the wealth of an orphan, fleeing from the battlefield, and slandering chaste believing women.
(4) "All the gates of Paradise." The total number of gates of Paradise is eight, while Hell has seven gates.
(5) "Enter Paradise in peace." Because by avoiding major sins (kabirah), minor sins (saghirah) are forgiven, and this is the mercy of Allah. However, if one does not avoid major sins, then even the minor sins are not forgiven.
