Hadith 2295

أَخْبَرَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُجَاهِدٌ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَامَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ , وَأَفْطَرَ فِي السَّفَرِ " .
´Mujahid narrated:` That the Messenger of Allah fasted during Ramadan and broke his fast when traveling.

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Breaking the fast during travel or jihad is more virtuous.

➋ It is also permissible to keep the fast while traveling.

➌ In the discomfort of heat or thirst, it is permissible to pour water over one’s head or body, to perform ritual bath (ghusl), or to wrap oneself in a wet cloth. Similarly, it is also permissible to benefit from air conditioning.
