Hadith 2004

´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Tha'labah said:` "The Messenger of Allah said, concerning those who had been slain at Uhud: 'Wrap them up on their clothes that are stained with blood, for there is no wound that is sustained for the sake of Allah, but it will come bleeding on the Day of Resurrection: its color will be the color of blood, but its fragrance will be the fragrance of musk."'

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) It is agreed upon that the martyr (shahid) will not be given a ritual bath (ghusl); rather, he will be shrouded in suitable clothing in the very state stained with blood and buried, so that the marks of his oppression remain upon him. Furthermore, on the Day of Resurrection, his distinction will remain established and his virtue will be manifest before all those present, because on the Day of Resurrection, every deceased will be raised in the state in which he died and was buried. However, the Hanafis have stipulated a few conditions for this, such as: after being wounded, he must not have eaten or drunk anything, nor sought shade, nor received any treatment, not even made a bequest (wasiyyah). But all these conditions are without evidence and, in fact, are invalid; rather, they are a mockery of martyrdom and an injustice to the martyr. It is as if he should be left thirsty in the sun, tormented until he dies or is killed. What is more astonishing is that he is not even allowed to speak. Astaghfirullah.

(2) There is a difference of opinion regarding the funeral prayer (janazah) for the martyr, and this discussion has already passed in detail in Sunan al-Nasa'i, ahadith: 1955 to 1957.
