´It was narrated from Abu Sufyan bin Sa'eed bin Al-Akhnas bin Shariq that he entered upon Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), who was his maternal aunt, and she made Sawiq for him, then she said to him:` "Perform Wudu' O son of my sister! For the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Perform Wudu' from that which has been touched by fire.'"

´It was narrated from Abu Sufyan bin Sa'eed bin Al-Akhnas that Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), said to him, when he had drunk some Sawiq:` "O son of my sister, perform Wudu', for I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Perform Wudu' from that which has been touched by fire.'"

181. Commentary: From the above-mentioned hadiths, it is understood that one should perform ablution (wudu) after eating something cooked over fire. However, it is difficult to interpret this command as obligatory, because ablution is nullified by the emission of something impure, not by eating something pure, as Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma expressed in Hadith number 174. Therefore, these hadiths will either be interpreted as recommending (mustahabb) ablution, or this ruling has been abrogated, as is evident from the hadiths in the following chapter, which show that in the early period the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave this command, but later he himself did not act upon it (see: Hadith 185). The noble Companions radi Allahu anhum also abandoned this practice, and this is the position of the majority of jurists and hadith scholars, and this is the preferred view. And Allah knows best.
