1780. Commentary:
➊ This painstaking repetition (15 times) of the narration of Hafsah radi Allahu anha is to demonstrate some differences in the chains of transmission (isnad). For the hadith scholars (muhaddithin), this is very important and informative, even though a layperson may consider it useless. The differences in the chains can be discerned by examining the isnads. It should be noted that such differences do not undermine the status of the hadith, because the hadith is preserved with an authentic chain. The purpose of repetition is to clarify the mistakes made by some other weak narrators in reporting the chain. The errors of these narrators do not affect the original and authentic chain, so the general public should not be disturbed upon seeing these differences. This point should be kept in mind with every repetition.
➋ This chapter and issue have already been discussed a few chapters earlier. Here, the mention of this chapter again is solely to demonstrate the differences in the chain of transmission of the aforementioned hadith.
