Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1744. Commentary:
➊ The difference between Yahya and Shabbabah is in the wording of the text. Shabbabah has mentioned Witr in this narration, whereas in reality, the narration of Imran bin Husayn radi Allahu anhuma is about Zuhr, not about Witr, as Yahya bin Sa'id has stated in the following hadith. The details are as follows: Shabbabah made two mistakes: first, he attributed the narration of Abdur Rahman bin Abza to Imran bin Husayn, and second, he narrated the report of Imran bin Husayn correctly. The narration of Imran bin Husayn is not about Witr but about Zuhr, as Yahya bin Sa'id has stated. And Allah knows best.
➋ The author rahimahullah has brought this narration repeatedly (15 times) to mention minor differences in the chains of transmission. By carefully examining the chains of these narrations, that difference becomes clear. For example: some narrators have reported this narration from Ubayy bin Ka'b radi Allahu anhu, some from Abdur Rahman bin Abza rahimahullah, and some from Imran bin Husayn radi Allahu anhuma. There is also a difference in the text regarding "waqf 'ala hadha." In the last two narrations, only one Witr is mentioned, whereas in all the others, three Witr are mentioned.
➌ In some narrations, after saying «سبحان الملک القدوس» three times, the addition of «رب الملائکۃ والروح» is also transmitted. See: (Sunan al-Daraqutni, al-Witr, Chapter: What is recited in the rak'ahs of Witr and the Qunut therein, Hadith: 1644)
