Hadith 1737

أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جُحَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُبَيْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبْزَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوتِرُ بِ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَ قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ , قَالَ : " سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
´Muhammad bin Juhadah reported from Zubaid, Sa'eed bin 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abza, from his father, who said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High;" and "Say: O you disbelievers!;' and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One.' And when he had finished praying, he said: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times."

1737. Commentary: The narrators of this narration from Malik ibn Mighwal are Shu'ayb ibn Harb and Yahya ibn Adam. Yahya ibn Adam has mentioned Dharr as an intermediary between Zubayd and Ibn Abzi, whereas Shu'ayb ibn Harb has not mentioned this intermediary. Furthermore, Yahya ibn Adam has narrated this narration as mursal (with a missing link), meaning he did not mention the Companion 'Abdur Rahman ibn Abzi radi Allahu anhu, while Shu'ayb has mentioned him.
