´Sufyan bin Al-Husain narrated from Al-Hakam that Miqsam said:` "Witr is seven and no less than five." I mentioned that to Ibrahim and he said: "From whom did he quote that?" I said: "I do not know." Al-Hakam said: "Then I performed Hajj and I met Miqsam and said to him: 'From whom (did you narrate that)?' He said: 'From the trustworthy one, from Aishah and from Maimunah.'"

Brief Explanation
1؎ : Most likely, the trustworthy person (thiqah) refers to Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhum), because Maqsam used to remain constantly attached to him, and he has also attributed the matter of wala’ to him. Or, “from Aisha and from Maymunah” is a substitute (badal) for “from the trustworthy person (an al-thiqah).” In such a case, the translation would be: “He heard from the trustworthy person,” meaning he heard from Aisha and Maymunah.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1717. Commentary: Muqsim has actually derived this ruling from the narrations of Aisha and Maymunah (radi Allahu anhuma), rather than it being explicitly transmitted from them. The narrations of Aisha (radi Allahu anha) regarding three and one (rak‘ahs) have already been mentioned above. Moreover, this is not the position of any jurist or hadith scholar. In addition, this narration is also weak in its chain of transmission. For further details, see: (Dhakheerat al-‘Uqba Sharh Sunan al-Nasa’i: 18/88–91)
