1527. Commentary:
➊ Imam Nasa’i rahimahullah writes in ‘Amal al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah that “Majdah” refers to the star Shi’ra (Sirius), while Imam Sindhi rahimahullah writes regarding it that it is one of the stars, and it is called “Dabaran” (Aldebaran). A group of three stars is also called “Majdah.” According to the Arabs, it was believed to bring rain, but this belief is incorrect. The reality is simply that rain would occur during the period when these stars would rise.
➋ “Majdah” can be pronounced with either a kasrah (i) or a dammah (u) on the letter “mim.”
