Hadith 1493

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ , " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِثْلَ صَلَاتِكُمْ هَذِهِ " وَذَكَرَ كُسُوفَ الشَّمْسِ .
´It was narrated from Abu Bakrah that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed two rak'ahs like this prayer of yours, and he mentioned the eclipse of the sun.

1493. Commentary: Some scholars have taken "this prayer" to mean the general prayer (salah), and then have used it as evidence for one bowing (ruku‘) in the prayer of eclipse (salat al-kusuf). However, this reasoning is contrary to the explicit and stronger narrations. Practice is based on what is explicit, not on such ambiguous words.
