Hadith 1398

´It was narrated that Ka'b bin 'Ujrah said that:` He entered the masjid and 'Abdur-Rahman bin Umm Al-Hakam was delivering the Khutbah while seated. "He said: 'Look at this man who is delivering the khutbah while seated when Allah (SWT) says: And when they see some merchandise or some amusement they disperse headlong to it, and leave you standing.'"

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1398. Commentary: This is the last verse of Surah al-Jumu‘ah. In it, the mention is specifically of Jumu‘ah (Friday). Once, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was delivering the sermon when the bells of a trade caravan began to ring; people gradually slipped away to obtain grain, and only a few remained. You were standing and delivering the sermon. From this, it is deduced that acting upon your sunnah is also necessary. You always delivered the sermon while standing.
