Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1392. Commentary: This narration is also used as evidence for performing Jumu‘ah before the sun's zenith (zawal), although there is no wording in this narration that indicates such a meaning. All that can be understood is that by the time Jumu‘ah ended, there was not enough shade for the body to be protected from the sun. It is evident that after performing Jumu‘ah post-zenith, there is certainly not enough shade to protect the body from the sun. However, from this it can be understood that Jumu‘ah should be performed soon after the zenith and the sermon (khutbah) should not be lengthy. In intense summer heat, some delay is also permissible, as has been mentioned previously.
