Hadith 1390

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو , وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ ، قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنِ الْجُلَاحِ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ سَاعَةً ، لَا يُوجَدُ فِيهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا آتَاهُ إِيَّاهُ , فَالْتَمِسُوهَا آخِرَ سَاعَةٍ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ " .
´It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Friday is twelve hours in which there is no Muslim slave who asks Allah (SWT) for something but He will give it to him, so seek it in the last hour after 'Asr."

1؎ : There is much disagreement among the scholars regarding this hour. According to some scholars, the preferred opinion is the one mentioned in this hadith. Some people say: this hour occurs during the interval from when the imam sits on the pulpit until the prayer is concluded. And Allah knows best.

1390. Commentary:

➊ In this narration, "saa‘aat" refers to the well-known (astronomical) hours, meaning there are certain moments appointed by Allah, which possess virtue, and among them the most excellent is that moment in which no supplication is rejected.

➋ According to the most authenticated narrations, that time or moment is sometime after ‘Asr (afternoon) prayer. Although there are other opinions regarding this as well. And Allah knows best.

1048. Commentary:
This hadith supports the previously mentioned statement of Abdullah bin Salam radi Allahu anhu that this hour of acceptance is after the Asr (afternoon) prayer and before the setting of the sun.
