Hadith 1232

Abu Bakr bin Sulaiman bin Abi Hathmah narrates that it reached him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led two rak‘ahs in prayer, so Dhu’l-Yadayn said to him..., and the hadith continues in this manner. Ibn Shihab Zuhri says that this information was conveyed to me by Sa‘id bin al-Musayyib through Abu Hurairah. He (Zuhri) says: I was also informed of this by Abu Salamah bin ‘Abd al-Rahman, Abu Bakr bin ‘Abd al-Rahman bin Harith, and ‘Ubayd al-Rahman bin ‘Abdullah.
´Abu Bakr bin Sulaiman bin Abi Hathmah narrated that:` It was conveyed to him that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed two rak'ahs, and Dhul-Shimalain said something similar to him. (One of the narrators Ibn Shihab said: "Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab informed me of this hadith from Abu Hurairah." He said: "And Abu Salamah bin 'Abdur Rahman, Abu Bakr bin 'Abdur Rahman, abu Bakr bin 'Abdur Rahman bin Al-Harith and 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah informed me."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1232. Commentary: The above incident is narrated from Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, as is clearly evident from the previous ahadith. However, in this narration [1232], Abu Bakr bin Sulayman did not explicitly mention the name of Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu; rather, he said: “This incident has reached me,” without mentioning the intermediary. Whereas in the previous hadith, he narrated the incident by explicitly naming Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu. This does not affect the status of the chain of narration, because omitting the mention in one place is not contrary to mentioning it in another. The purpose of Imam al-Nasa’i rahimahullah in mentioning this narration is to clarify the difference regarding whether the narration from al-Zuhri is connected (muttasil) or disconnected (mursal). And Allah knows best.
