´An-Nadr bin Kathir Abu Sahl Al-Aszidi said:` "Abdullah bin Tawus prayed beside me at Mina, in Masjid Al-Khaif, and when he made the first prostration he raised his head and raised his hands up to his face. I found that strange and I said to Wuhaib bin Khalid: "This man does something that I have never seen anyone do." Wuhaib said to him: 'You do something that I have never seen anyone do.' Abdullah bin Tawus said: 'I saw my father do it, and my father said: "I saw Ibn 'Abbas do it and 'Abullah bin Abbas said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) doing it.'"

1147. Commentary:
➊ The narrator of this report, Abu Sahl Azdi, is weak; therefore, this hadith is unreliable, especially because it contradicts extremely authentic ahadith that are mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and other books of hadith. In those ahadith, the negation of raising the hands (raf‘ al-yadayn) between the prostrations (sujud) is explicitly stated. See: [صحیح البخاري ، الأذان ، حدیث : 735 ، و صحیح مسلم ، الصلاة ، حدیث : 390]. It is not befitting for people of knowledge to abandon such strong ahadith and base any issue on a weak hadith like this.
➋ The righteous predecessors (salaf salihin) were so sensitive and cautious in matters of religion that upon seeing anything new, they would immediately reject it or ask for its evidence.
➌ When someone is asked about any of his actions, he should not respond with anger; rather, he should present its evidence and establish the proof.

740. Commentary:
In this hadith as well, the raising of the hands (raf‘ al-yadayn) during prostrations (sujud) is affirmed. Abu Bakr al-Mundhiri, Abu ‘Ali al-Tabari, and some of the Ahl al-Hadith hold this view. However, this hadith is weak due to Nadr ibn Kathir al-Sa‘di. Hafiz Abu Ahmad al-Naysaburi said: This hadith is among the rejected (munkar) narrations of Ibn Tawus. Abu Hatim said: There is criticism (objection) in it. Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah said: He (the narrator) also has rejected (munkar) narrations. Ibn Hibban says that he narrates fabrications (mawdu‘at) from trustworthy narrators; therefore, it is in no way permissible to use him as proof. However, ‘Allamah al-Shawkani said that the negation of raising the hands during prostrations is what is authentically established, unless a most authentic evidence is found.
