Hadith 1085

´It was narrated that Abu Bushr said:` "I heard Yusuf-meaning Ibn Mahak- narrating that Hakim said: 'I gave my pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), pledging that I would go down (in prostration) only after standing up from bowing.'"

Explanation & Benefits

1085. Commentary: That is, I will not go into prostration (sajdah) directly from bowing (ruku‘) or without standing up straight after bowing; rather, I will stand up straight from bowing, then I will fall into prostration. Several other meanings have also been given for this phrase, for example: I will not die except in a state of steadfastness upon Islam, etc. However, the first meaning is the most appropriate. And Allah knows best.
